Sunday saw the long-awaited battle for top spot between the Renegades and the Semiahmoo Thrashers.

Semiahmoo controlled the first few minutes of the game with some fine passing and were rewarded with a corner in the 3rd minute.

After a shaky start, the Renegades stepped up their physical game and began to take away Semiahmoo's passing.

Kim McFarlane opened the scoring with a pop fly over the keeper's head in the 19th minute.

The Renegades came close again in the 23rd when a cross from someone yet to be identified went over the head of Renegades forward Giuliana Obregon.

Semiahmoo put one off the outside of the post after a corner caused a goal area scramble in the 33rd minute.

So, the Renegades went to half-time with a 1-nil lead.




The teams traded goals in the 27th and 32nd minutes, Port Moody's being scored by Obregon, and the Renegades hung on to survive some late free kicks. With the 2-1 final result, the Renegades take over first place bragging rights for now.
